A generative music project about the sea

The Whale Project is an installation in which the music is generated from a buoy located in the Mediterranean Sea and where a unique graphic image is created during the course of the day. For this project we created 35 different tracks in a bossa/jazz style which are then mixed in real time according to the conditions of the sea at every given moment, creating in this way a different and unique soundtrack every time.

How does it work?

A buoy sends real-time data about the sea’s motion. Music and graphic art are generated with the data at the Chiringuito (beach bar).
